CalcLink effectively makes it possible to use Mathematica code to be executed as programm language or "scripted" from Calc without any effort. You can even use visual components (buttons, pull-down menus, sliders, etc.) from OpenOffice in your macros and use the computational and graphics power of Mathematica from an OpenOffice point-and-click "command center".

Alternatively, you can use the graphical user interface features of Mathematica, J/Link, or NETLink to run your point-and-click "command center" from the Mathematica kernel, automating tasks in Mathematica and Calc at the same time!
