Fun with Lancaster Tower, 20190825

What happened was: First, as I was approaching from the East, perfectly aligned with 26, she gives me a left downwind for 8. I fly for a left downwind. Then she changes me over to a right downwind, so I fly for a right downwind. She extends my downwind, she'd call my base. She does and tells I should expect clearance, and I continue the approach (now on base), but I never get any landing clearance. On short final I tell her that I still don't have any landing clearance, no reply from her. I hover over the runway, and about where the runways intersect, I tell her again that I still don't have a landing clearance. I still get no reply. At this point I decide it was going to be too late and go around. A male voice comes (probably her supervisor) and apologizes. Then she comes back and gives me a left downwind. I fly a left downwind. Then she tells me to follow a light-sport and clears me for landing. But after a short while she tells me I should fly S turns, too close to the light-sport. That's the S turns you see in the map above :). Then she gives me the landing clearance a second time.
Not clear why KLNS didn't use 13 or 31. ATIS had mentioned 13. But then they didn't use it.
Once I was on the tarmac at the FBO I saw two more aircraft going around. She was clearly overwhelmed with the amount of traffic, and they were using only one runway!
